Open to artists working in painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, photography, installation and video, the Wells Art Contemporary (WAC) Awards aim to stimulate debate, to challenge and to provoke, pushing the boundaries of the visual arts scene both nationally and internationally. Prizes include a solo show for a young artist, a London group exhibition, prize money and many more. Following the success of the 2018 Awards, WAC has been able to expand and work creatively with Wells Cathedral, which will host the 2019 exhibition. This is a vanguard project for both Wells Art Contemporary and Wells Cathedral and has allowed for the development of an additional installation opportunity to run alongside the exhibition with interventions installed in up to eight different parts of the cathedral.
